Basketball Camerawork

This one survived the Palisades fire, which lost me everything else so there's a different weight to seeing it again. At the time, I wanted to push past a locked off, single camera setup and build something with real cinematic energy: a basketball player driving downcourt into a dunk, cut together with tight tracking shots, low chasing angles, and hard push-ins timed to the peaks of the action. Working with a moving camera changed the animation problem itself poses had to read correctly from angles that were constantly shifting, and the rig's exaggeration needed to hold up under close, fast cuts instead of a static wide shot. It let me lean into staging as its own skill. Pairing camera timing with the character's own acceleration and impact so the cuts felt driven by the performance rather than layered on top of it afterward.
